Delos and Rhenia, the day at sea

Delos, about 30 minutes by boat, was one of the great sanctuaries of the ancient Greek world and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Walk the ruins in the morning before the heat, then sail to Rhenia next door, an island with clear, empty bays you can only reach by sea. Little Venice, the windmills and the old town

In Mykonos Town, get lost on purpose. The lanes lead to the Paraportiani church in the Kastro quarter, to Little Venice with its balconies over the sea and up to the Kato Mili windmills, the most photographed view on the island. Ano Mera and the island's quiet side

Inland, the village of Ano Mera keeps a slower Mykonian rhythm, with the monastery of Panagia Tourliani and tavernas on the square. On the north-west tip, the Armenistis lighthouse is a quieter sunset spot. Beaches for every mood

Choose your beach by the wind. When the meltemi blows from the north, the south coast is sheltered: Ornos, Psarou, Platis Gialos, Paradise and Elia. On calm days, Agios Sostis and Fokos in the north are wild and quiet. Beach clubs such as Nammos and Scorpios add music and lunch, and a private RIB can take you to the beaches by sea.
